Publication Process

The publication process at IJCIS – Indonesian Journal of Contemporary Islamic Studies is carried out systematically to ensure academic quality, originality, and adherence to ethical standards. The stages are as follows:

  1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit manuscripts online through the IJCIS submission system by following the journal’s focus, scope, and author guidelines.

  2. Initial Screening
The editorial team conducts an initial check regarding manuscript suitability, plagiarism screening, formatting compliance, and alignment with journal scope. Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements may be returned to authors before entering the review process.

  3. Peer Review Process
Manuscripts passing the screening are assigned to at least two reviewers under a double-blind peer review system. Reviewers provide critical evaluation regarding originality, methodology, contribution to the field, and clarity of writing.

  4. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ feedback, the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editors decide whether the manuscript is:

    • Accepted without revision,

    • Accepted with minor/major revisions, or

    • Rejected.

  5. Revision and Resubmission
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewers’ comments and resubmit within the specified timeframe. Editors may send the revised version back to reviewers for re-evaluation if necessary.

  6. Copyediting and Proofreading
Once accepted, manuscripts go through copyediting to improve language quality, formatting, and reference style. Authors are involved in the proofreading stage to ensure accuracy of content before final publication.

  7. Publication
The final version of the manuscript is published online in the assigned issue. All articles are given DOI numbers and made available for open access in accordance with IJCIS publication ethics.

  8. Post-Publication
Published articles are indexed and disseminated to increase visibility and citation. The editorial board continuously monitors academic impact and reader engagement.
