Makna Tradisi Wiwit Sawah Bagi Petani di Desa Ngetuk Kecamatan Gunungwungkal Kabupaten Pati

Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning of the wiwit sawah tradition for farmers in Ngetuk Village, Gunungwungkal District, Pati Regency. The research employed a qualitative method, with data collected through interviews and documentation. The findings indicate that the wiwit sawah tradition is perceived as an expression of gratitude to Allah SWT for the agricultural harvest, a symbolic act of seeking permission before the harvesting process begins, and a prayer for a smooth and blessed harvest. The tradition also embodies religious, social, and cultural values, including togetherness, mutual cooperation, and respect for nature and ancestors. Although the implementation of the wiwit sawah tradition has undergone changes and simplification over time, its core meaning remains preserved and continues to be relevant in the lives of farmers in Ngetuk Village.
